The latest version of Smart To-Do List has been posted to the server. If you’ve previously purchased Smart To-Do List you will be getting an email detailing where to download the latest version. This version adds the following functionality:
- Re-ordering project tasks via drag and drop. Finally! To do this left click and hold down the mouse button on the text of the selected task and drag it to it’s new location on the list. If the list is longer than what is viewable on the screen, the software will auto-scroll the list for you as you drag.
- To-Do list items can be moved between projects via drag and drop. Use the same method mentioned above only drag the text to the selected project and let go of the mouse button when you’ve reached the new location for the task. The item will be removed from the current list and added to the selected project.
- To-Do list items can be re-ordered alphabetically. This isn’t a filter. This would be used if you’d like to alphabetize your list.
- An additional filter has been added that allows you to sort the current view by priority. This filter will list the high priority items first, followed by the medium, and then the low priority. The keyword command for this filter is “hml”.
About re-ordering the tasks, this can only be done in a single project view with no filters applied. I will add the ability to reorder the tasks when all projects are visible in the future.

Special thanks to my beta testers, you were a tremendous help.

Dear Mr. Karstetter,
Thanks for making tasks movable, that’s a great help!
Before I was copy & pasting the tasks to change their order. This drag & drop-feature saves me time and makes maintaining the list doable.
I am busy with time management, teaching about it and I intend to write about it too. I like the possiblities already, and would enjoy working with Smart-To-Do-List even more with 2 additional functions.
What I would appreciate very much is that I can designate what I have done with a task other than deleting. So I can better my functioning. To monitor the task I use 5 stadia:
√ Done (completed)
• In process (when interrupted)
→ Planned forward (when the tasks is shifted)
Initials Delegated (to whom I have delegated the task)
x Deleted
Would you maybe expand the “completed” function with 4 more functions?
Would you also make it possible to delete a task, so I can prevent the list from getting cluttered up?
Thank you in advance!
Jacqueline,
I think I understand the 2nd, have an option to mark a task as complete or just delete it from the list (don’t have it show up in the completed items list). This is definitely something that has been on my radar.
The first item, you would like to mark a task as on of the following:
“Done”, “In process”, Planned forward, Initials of who it’s being delegated to, and deleted. That’s quite a bit of information to put on the task list. Have you tried tagging the items with some of this information?
Best Regards,
Scott
Dear Mr. Karstetter,
I found that I can delete a task when I put them in a separate project. When deleting the project, the tasks vanish too.
If I could delete task without dragging them to this ‘Deleted’ project, that would save me time making a project every time.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by tagging.
I use the Tag space for the physical place of or a link to the action.
What I would like to do is to ’shorthand comment’ on the task, to determine it’s status. That can be done by putting a mark next to the task. What I have in mind is a separate column, in which you can put a mark. This mark takes little space, so the column can be narrow. Why in a separate column? That’s easier to see at a quick glance.
How to implement this? I would favor for the mark to be in the same column as the completed, but I don’t know whether that is feasible. If it is not feasible, maybe the marks could get a separate column?
Could you also make it possible to place initials in this column for marks? Just 3 or 4 letters will be enough.
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Jacqueline
I also would like to have something different than simply deleting a task once it’s finished.
My idea would be for a strikethrough button next to the edit and delete buttons - maybe a tick symbol - so one can click it and it would put a strikethrough through the selected text.
I believe it would be a good motivator to see the full daily list and strikethroughs as you complete each task.
Just a thought.
Regards,
Martin
Martin,
I agree with this. This is on my to-do list!
Thanks,
Scott
