iPhone Enable Your WordPress Blog

by Scott on August 31, 2008

I ran across a simple WordPress plugin recently called WPtouch. This plugin allows your blog to be rendered beautifully on an iPhone or iPod Touch without any need for direct interaction from the reader. From the WPtouch website:

Simply put, it’s a complimentary theme installed as a plugin on your WordPress blog or website that will format your content with this Apple-inspired, full-featured theme when your visitors are using an iPhone or iPod touch.

This plugin works very well. It’s amazing how it makes your blog articles look as if they were made to be viewed on an iPhone. The home page shows a page with links to each blog article along with the number of comments each post contains. The individual posts are formatted along with the images without any loss of quality. I’ve placed a couple screenshots of how Smart Productivity looks on an iPhone below.

Can you advise me how to implement on my WordPress blog. I am using one of the prebuilt themes. Thanks, John

John,

I believe you have to have a self-hosted Wordpress blog, instead of myblog.wordpress.com. Then, it is installed like any other plugin.

Scott
