Maybe this is common information that everyone knows, but I’d never seen it before last week when I did it by accident. When you right-click a folder icon in your Firefox Bookmarks and select Copy you get the folder name, the URLs under that folder name, as well as the additional folders under that folder and their content all placed on the clipboard.
For example, if I select the folder shown below and select Copy it will place the Cooking folder title on the clipboard as well as the URLs of the items in the folder.
Here’s what can be found on the clipboard:
One other great use of this tip is that if you right-click any of the items at the top of the Bookmarks folder, such as Organize Bookmarks and select Copy, your complete library of bookmark URLs will be placed on the clipboard as well as the folder names.
This appears to only work in Firefox 3.0 (I have 3.0.3 at the moment). I tried it on my laptop that still has 2.something and it did not work.

Thanks a lot for that tip
Whats the point though?
The tip would be good for sending a group of bookmarks to a friend or colleague at work. If you wanted to send all the bookmarks for a specific project at work, this tip would save a little bit of time.
Great tip, will help me sort out my ridiculously large bookmarks collection before I migrate to deli.cio.us
Nice tip indeed. Makes everyday life easier!
amazing discovery! thanks

HI,
How do you do to find my old bookmarks after the upgrade?
I forgot to save before the upgrade.
Chris.
christian,
I don’t think it will delete the old bookmarks if you can find your profile folder. It’s usually under the C:\Documents and Settings\”Username”\Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\”Some Strange Number”
Hope this helps.
Scott
You could also import them into http://www.my-favorite-websites.com/ that way you will never have to back them up again and you have them with you where-ever you go. easy.
Is there any way to copy the columns as they appear in the bookmark window with Name, Tag, and Location?
Don.a.dio,
I couldn’t find any way of doing what you needed. Sorry.
Thank You very much Scott excellent tip.
I am now able to do some editing 1 folder at a time……..
Tip To All
Save Word document as a Word Document
Then save again as a WEB PAGE
Now you can open the web page version in your browser, and do what your going to do. (delete, edit, open all in tabs, open single Tab , re bookmark, copy and paste the address bar into another browser and effectively save the hyperlinks into that browser, import 1 or 2 folders only into another browser etc, etc, etc.
Then any changes amend on the word version and save the new version as WEB PAGE VERSION 2……(With the amendments) etc,etc
As I previously said EXCELLENT Tip Scott……
Yay, I can’t believe this is so easy, I was doing this other way around I export the bookmarks as an HTML file (bookmarks > organize > file > export > named html file) and then edit the file in an editor before sending the file to the next computer for Importing. So stupid and frustrating, specially because I was doing this on daily basics. Thanks Thanks Thanks million time!
Btw you really should consider adding some tweet buttons and something like that, it’s much easier just click button then other way around.
I just share this grate thing with my followers.
Thanks a bunch
Hebat! (Great in Indonesian)
